SEARCH FUND
STRATEGY

Search funds are  an investment vehicle, conceived in 1984, through which investors financially support an entrepreneur’s efforts to locate, acquire, manage, and grow a privately held company. The strategy, similar to a classic buyout private equity vehicle, allows for a longer investment hold period to maximize the enterprise value.

In 2013, Impala Investments Holdings was created as the first Africa centric search fund, led by Impala Ventures partner, Jane Kaggwa. The strategy, similar to a classic buyout private equity vehicle, was focused on acquiring a company in the East Africa economic region. The fund is backed by leading US and European institutional investors and leaders within the search community.

Today the fund owns and operates Aqua Vita, headquartered in Nairobi Kenya, East Africa's leading point of use water purification company with operations in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, servicing blue chip global corporations, schools, healthcare and industrial clients.
